DHS Acting promotes 21st century skills: critical thinking and problem solving, communications and collaboration, creativity and innovation. Through script analysis, character development, voice acting, audition preparation, feedback, rehearsal and live performances, students develop the skills necessary to succeed in a career, college, and life.

The Intermediate Acting class produces showcases twice a year.
The Advanced Acting class participates in the Georgia One Act Competition, Thescon, and performs a full length production twice a year.

Radium Girls is a drama based on the true story of the Radium Girls, young women who painted luminous watch dials in the 1920s and were poisoned by the radium-based paint they used. The plot follows Grace Fryer, a dial painter, and her fight for justice against her former employer, Arthur Roeder, as they face illnesses, a cover-up, and societal resistance to their claims. The play explores themes of corporate greed, capitalist responsibility, and the power of united workers to advocate for their rights.

The Play That Goes Wrong is a riotous farce that follows the Cornley Drama Society’s disastrous staging of The Murder at Haversham Manor. What starts as a classic whodunit unravels into chaos as missed cues, collapsing sets, and actors forgetting (or stubbornly repeating) their lines spiral out of control. Determined to see the show through, the hapless cast and crew turn every calamity into comedy. A love letter to theater and a masterclass in physical humor, it keeps audiences laughing until the final curtain.
